Baby, it’s cold outside! Warm up during colder months with my low carb sugar free hot chocolate recipe! Plus, I included a luscious dairy free option.
This recipe is chocolate-y, creamy, satisfying, and rich in nourishing, heart-healthy and waist-whittling saturated fat–you heard me!
Low Carb Sugar Free Hot Chocolate Recipe
INGREDIENTS
- 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (organic, fair trade)
- 8 oz hot filtered water
- 2 Tbsp cream (ideally organic, from grass-fed cows) OR full-fat coconut milk (organic)
- shaving of organic pasture butter OR ½ Tbsp organic coconut oil
- dash of organic stevia (sweetener) to taste (this is the best-tasting stevia I’ve used and it doesn’t have any fillers (affiliate link)
- few drops of organic vanilla extract (ideally organic and fair-trade)
- pinch of pink salt
OPTIONS
Ideally, use organic or “wild” crafted/harvested herbs.
Choose one or a combo of the following:
- a few strands of saffron
- fresh grated ginger
- dusting of cayenne pepper
- dash/pinch of ground/grated nutmeg
- dash of ground cardamom seeds
Super Easy Prep
Add everything but hot water to your favorite big mug.
Pour hot water into mug.
Stir until evenly mixed.
Ideal when blended. I love using my stainless-steel immersion hand-blender (affiliate link) directly in my giant mug! (Remember immersion hand-blenders are awesome, but plastic versions can release toxins into your food, especially if that food is hot, like hot chocolate! Opt for stainless steel construction.)
Voila!
